Alex’s primary practice areas are capital markets and mergers and acquisitions
(including private equity transactions), although his background includes diverse
experience in other areas such as privatisations, general corporate,
telecommunications and IT, real estate, project financing, energy and banking. Alex
has worked for seven years in the Bucharest, London and Paris offices of a Magic
Circle firm and has acted on projects in a large number of jurisdictions in CEE, CIS as
well as Western Europe. These include advising ING Bank N.V., London Branch (as
sole lead manager and sole book runner) on the IPO of A&D Pharma Holdings N.V,
the first IPO of a Romanian business on an international market, advising Vodafone
on the acquisition of the leading Romanian mobile telecom operator MobiFon S.A.
Romania, advising ING on the IPO of Flamingo Computers, the first
international-standards Romanian IPO, advising Sanofi-Synthélabo on the
unsolicited public offer on 100% of Aventis’ equity securities – value USD 63.81
billion, advising Air France on its exchange offer for KLM common shares in a
takeover that created the world's largest airline by turnover and advising a
consortium of leading private equity funds in the EUR 1.2 billion
leveraged-acquisition of one hundred percent of the share capital of Bulgaria's
leading GSM provider, MobilTel.
