Alina Stancu Birsan

EXPERIENCE:

Alina’s main practice areas are energy related projects, banking, M&A, corporate
and capital markets. Alina has worked for five years in the Bucharest and London
offices of a Magic Circle firm and has acted on projects in several jurisdictions,
including advising RWE Energy AG on the proposed acquisition via privatisation of
Electrica Muntenia Sud S.A., the Government of Romania in connection with the
privatisation of Romania’s two national gas distributing companies (Distrigaz Nord
S.A. and Distrigaz Sud S.A.) and a group of investors regarding the development
and financing of a potential major energy project in Serbia. Her credentials include
advising on the development of nuclear power plants such as the development of
units 3 & 4 of the Cernavoda Nuclear Facility and the development of the Belene
nuclear power plant in Bulgaria. Alina has also advised ENI S.p.a. in connection with
the potential acquisition of a portfolio of petrol stations in Romania, Doosan Heavy
Industries & Construction Co. Ltd on the acquisition of Kvaerner IMGB S.A. and
Glencore International AG in connection with the creation of a pledge over gasoline
stock deposited in Romania. Capital markets experience includes advising ING and
Raiffeisen, the co-lead managers of the initial public offering of shares of Flamingo
S.A., the first international standards Romanian IPO and ING Bank N.V. on the IPO of
A&D Pharma Holdings N.V., the first international GDR issue and London listing of a
Romanian business.
